The law here is that they still can’t sell it in stores that sell a “substantial amount of groceries”.

That sucks. The same grocery store with a bar...they have various alcohol reps every weekend setting up stations where you can sample their alcohol. You just have to show them your id first. Usually it's beer and wine samples but sometimes it will be other alcohol like tequila samples.

Do yall have Total Wines or BevMo there?

Not in Louisville. We have Liquor Barn which can be pretty awesome and runs taps with local rotations the same way you’re talking about. And will do samples.

Our groceries have been able to sell beer for awhile but it was wine and hard liquor they can’t. The wine part is even sillier when you consider how many people cook with wine.

For liquor but you can buy beer and wine in the actual store.

I remember this in Florida. We went to a Sams Club a few days before my wedding to buy all the alcohol for the wedding. Sams had the separate store as well.

So silly. Is that because many of those places still only sell beer and wine on Sundays(which is stupid)? So it's easier to close off the other alcohol?

The real answer is because the people in charge of these counties and the votive populace is full of old Bible Belt farts. As the die out and more gen x and millenials gain control, they go wet. Slowly happening all over north and east Texas over the past few years. Oklahoma voted as a state for alcohol in grocery stores. Passed last presidential election and goes into effect in October.

And that Jesus turned water into wine for a wedding. He didn't turn water into beer.

If you ever go someplace with a BevMo...check it out. Total Wine is bigger (and obviously has a much bigger wine selection). But BevMo almost always has a 5 cent wine sale. Meaning they have certain wines that if you buy one bottle regular price...the second bottle of the same wine is a nickel. And it's not all cheap wines either. They will have wines that normally sell for $30-40 a bottle as part of the sale. Just depends on what they want to get rid of to make room for more stock.

I went last Sunday and a wine rep was sampling 19 Crimes. An Australian wine that I already have had and liked. Rep was giving out $5 coupons for 19 crimes wine. That the grocery store already had on sale for $8.99 a bottle. So only $3.99 with the coupon. Score!

In nearby Beauregard parish where they boast more churches in the parish seat(DeRidder) than any other, was dry as a desert. Until a loop hole was discovered and then some of the merchants began selling alcohol until it was voted on to end this loop hole. Well they did the voting by wards. It took awhile to get this on the ballot, and the whole time all the churches in the city and the parish began their push for keeping the parish dry. Well once the revenue from the sales of alcohol starting coming into the parish coffers, it changed some minds. The local government heads started to see some extra money to pave roads, improve schools and what not. So they put pressure on the churches and lo and behold, most wards stayed wet, with some of the outlining ones went dry. Money talks in some mysterious ways.

That’s one of our hottest brands right now. They (treasury wine estates) just close end of fiscal last month so deals were being cut like crazy.

I assume you are 140 lbs so you can tell us first hand what the effects would be.
Every girl I know gets pretty damn fricked up after that.
Besides, you can always drink at home or get a taxi.
The discussion isn’t duis, it is alcohol in general. Alcohol is there so people can forget about their responsibilities and instead just go get fricked up. A society where everybody needs to check out to feel normal is a society that is clearly fricked. Maybe people shouldn’t need to numb theirselves to feel normal. I know this is some ground breaking stuff here.

They want legitimate chain grocery stores and they're gradually figuring out that they could use more sales tax revenue after the lumber mills and small shops left town.

My favorite East Texas towns, though, are the ones that don't have bars or alcohol served in restaurants, but do have liquor stores. That way all the good Baptists can drink alone at home in the dark as the Lord intended.

It has a neat story behind it and the wine is actually good. Bar I go to for triva always has their red blend so I get it all the time.

Whoever came up with the story behind it...great job. I've brought a bottle to my book club before and we were all curious which crime would be printed on the cork.

We’re discussing dry counties and how stupid (and counter productive) they are in relation to adults drinking.

The point is that in most states only a couple of beers could get you a DUI. You’re making a horribly blanket statement assuming people who have to drive to a wet county are getting sloshed. It doesn’t take much to be “drunk” by DUI standards.

Also, no one said they aren’t exercising personal responsiblity when it comes to drinking. That they aren’t using a taxi, Uber, Lyft.

None of that makes it any less stupid that people are forced to drive a county away to visit a bar and increase their chances of driving drunk (which takes very little).

And people have been consuming alcoholic beverages for most of human history. So shut the frick up with your moral superiority.

Have you used the living labels app? The faces talk about their crimes. Works on their walking dead wine too, but that wine sucks.
