I'm guessing the op is lsu rotc and graduated around the same time frame that I did while in undergrad at lsu.
I took rotc for a semester, wasn't that impressed. I gained a greater appreciation serving first as an enlisted soldier. Yes I was a pog since I was a combat medic.
Yes I went to Afghanistan. Originally I was going to be attached to one of the light infantry platoons that was in my brigade. The same battalion and infantry regiment Audie Murphy served under. However due to the battalion getting more medics at the last minute I was attached to one of the logistics platoons as their medic and probably did around 60 convoy missions.
So I'm a pog and pos. thank you.

I've also met some really spoiled West Point cadets as well.
I had one kid panic because he had too much sweat go into his eye.

Yeah because we never get contact during convoys. Some combat vet you are...
The OP is an idiot. I think that has been proven. Thank you for your service, and thank you to all of my brothers and sisters in arms.

I was downplaying my own role on here since I have to be inferior to the troll.
Of course contact happens on convoys. I'm not a fool or troll.

some guys out of high school can't get a job anywhere else and don't fit in so they join the military.
When the get out and can't assimilate into society it is because they couldn't assimilate out of high school and has nothing to do with service in the military.
They were not able to enter society before they went into the service. So when they come messed up after finishing service we owe them nothing because the service has nothing with them not being able to fit in. they were that way out of high school.

all unnecessary man. save your story for your family and friends. Whether or not op is rotc or west point is besides the point, he shouldn't be an officer.

To be so opinionated, you've been awfully quiet. If your TD handle is accurate, I'm ashamed we share the same commissioning source.
The Ole War Skule should have taught you way better than that.
I second this.

If this were a troll attempt, I think it makes it even worse. What kind of fricking person gets gratification out of blatant disrespect, especially when it's intentional?

You're right.
I just didn't appreciate his arrogance.
I understand that everyone has a critical role, I just hope that as an officer the op would as well.

Nobody owes any service member anything just because they served, regardless of their personality. Honest service members don't serve to be "owed."

quote:I think generalizations like this can be made about any path to commissioning. I've seen great OCS & prior-service ROTC officers, and I've seen those who couldn't get out of their own way - ironically, most often due to not being able to remove themselves from NCO business.
I took rotc for a semester, wasn't that impressed. I gained a greater appreciation serving first as an enlisted soldier.
And to be fair, one semester - especially in the MSI or II year - isn't an accurate snapshot of the program.
I think the main point is there's only so much a commissioning source can do. The OP would have this attitude regardless.

Yeah I did serve under two lt's that couldn't stay out of "their lane" due to their enlisted time being e7 and e8 ranks.
It happens.
I do know that the brass is too top heavy now.

Has op ever decided if I qualify as a veteran or not?
