We could wipe out everyone within a day or 2 without using nuclear or chemical weapons. The question really is, "would the US ever level another country's capitol and metropolitan areas.
Even in WWII we did not drop the bomb on Tokyo. In our Asian wars again we did not strike in mass against the general population due to public outcry.
It would be easy for the US to monitor the boarder with Canada for any major troop movements and bomb quickly. Small groups might get across.
We could not hold countries witb ground troops, but we sure as hell could destabalize their government, destroy primary military bases, hit their infustructure (electrical, telephone, water) and crash their internet.
When you say the world you really are only saying about 20-30 countries. Most countries dont have any offensive military capabilities beyond some of our major police departments.
And I was serious about a day or 2. If we fought with no regard for human life, schools, hospitals.
But this is a weird question as this is more of a bad movie plot. We have too many checks and balances to ever go that route.
