It's sad to think that these children are just tools for these people to try to prove how their alternative lifestyle is just as legitimate as the norm.

I wish people sometimes had more sympathy for this type of kid when they're an adult as well.

Some people screw up, and screw up pretty badly as adults. I'm not saying that you should excuse their actions or even think we should go easy on them. But a little understanding of the environment they grew up in can help you at least have pity for the things that happened in their lives to lead up to the point where it all goes horribly wrong.
