Because it actually wasn't an in depth question into personal finance. It was asking the least and the most in a checking account. That tells very little about every day personal finance.

I've never been overdrawn but pushed it right to the edge a few times earlier in life when I first lived on my own.

Now I keep more than I probably should in checking. Paycheck is direct deposit into interest bearing checking account that is competitive with savings account rates. Need to go down there and move some of it around but don't think I'll realize significant gain.
