Louisiana has brown sand/mud beaches. Alabama has nice beaches, thought most Louisianans go to Alabama beaches because they don't feel like driving a little further to the nicer Florida beaches. I drive all the way to Saint George Island, FLorida. But I do like the Gulf Shores area.
