Getting a bit desperate with an issue with my house. Anyone have a recommendation on a lawyer in the Nola area that specializes in real estate and/or homeowners insurance? TIA

Found mold in a room in our house. Had to put in moisture claim after inspection. Gutted three rooms, sheetrock and floors. Come to find out, previous home owner had done three claims for the same thing and didn't disclose it. Insurance company only willing to give us half the money to cover it. They changed the claim from moisture claim to a mold claim and used our mold limit to pay us just half the total cost to repair. They claim since we can't prove where the moisture came from, they don't have to pay us any more.

We don't know, unfortunately. Mold problem surfaced about a year after we moved in. Nothing was found during the inspection. I just find it odd that the previous owners did three claims for the same thing, said they fixed it, and now insurance company says they won't pay it anymore.

You need to have a sudden and accidental source of the moisture with resulting mold for the insurance to cover it. IE wind damage to roof or a burst water pipe/plumbing fixture.
