I remember over hearing my youngest daughter talking with my Grandmother.
My daughter was talking about learning to write in cursive.
My Grandmother didn’t know the word lol , when she saw it she said “Oh, Hand Writing “
I’ve met some other older people who call it that too.

My kids go to a dyslexia school and they learn to write in cursive as it aids development

Only when writing a check or signing something.
My grandma wrote in cursive until she was 93. She always sent out birthday card and letters to everyone. I think I was the only one who could read/interpret her writing as she aged and her hand got really shaky. She would write just like she spoke, she wasn't backwoods, but she wasn't an English major either so you had to pick out words you knew and then match the letter/shapes of her writings to figure out the other words you didn't. She could have been a code talker.
