I don’t care for it, that’s infested with snakes and large rodents.

Where are you moving, or thinking of moving from? If you’re hellbent on a bunch of land try military road or Folsom.

Don't feel the need for a ton of land, but want enough to accommodate very large dogs and also have a nice backyard kitchen, fire pit, etc.

Yes, I guess between 1 and 2 acres would be nice, although we could probably make do with under an acre if the site were otherwise very desirable.
