LA homeowners insurance

The 3 year protection has been eliminated. So now insurance companies can cancel up to 5% of their policies a year or more with approval by the insurance commissioner. What I have not been able to find out is what kind of notice does your carrier have to give you upon cancellation.

Typically, you get a notice probably 30-60 days before the policy would renew that they aren’t going to renew you.
I’ve had this happen before, mainly when the company pulled out of the state because I have yet to make a single claim in the history of my home ownership.
Bad hurricane seasons tend to cause a lot of this.

But if its a brand new policy in the first year, they can cancel for any reason within the first 60 days. Basically that's the company's inspection window to cancel for underwriting issues (property not being in acceptable condition or having pre-existing damage, liability hazards, etc)
