This isn't quite accurate. The poorest counties in America are largely white (many in Appalachia), yet the violent crime rate in Appalachia is more than 50% lower than the national average.

Appalachia's problem right now is heroin/opioid addiction.

The overwhelming majority of sex offenders in the metro area here are black. It's crazy.

Yeah, there are maps for that sort of stuff. It surprised me how many of them were black when I looked at it. We are 50/50 here in Baton Rouge though, as far as population goes.

Did you read that article you just posted? Skimmed through it and it reaks of racism.

Back at you. So is it poverty that breeds violence or the fact that the family unit has disintegrated? Could the break down of the family unit cause the poverty and the violence? For thousands of years there have been poor people, but they have not always acted like animals.

Apples and oranges. Both are criminal. Gangbangers kill over turf, drugs, etcetera. They mostly kill other criminals. The KKK has a storied history of killing others for simply being black.

I figured the KKK were all dead or in jail by now. Old people can say what they want, but they were/are fricking ignorant. I hear that shite at work every day. They act like it's cool to whisper racist shite to other white people. Then they say "just remember YALL (young people) voted in that damn Obama". Im a registered republican
Then I am verbally abused by old black people for my supposed "white privilege", it's pretty pathetic.

Did you read the link you posted?

It is written by a guy named Maurice Ward and the commenters disagree with his analysis. Is this your conclusive study on crime and economics?

Poverty and the breaking of the family dynamic in America, for the black community, started when?

Pretty vicious cycle, but poverty is the main driving force...

Nah, i just picked the one out of a million when googling poverty and violence. If that one doesn't satisfy you there are plenty of others. You can run the query yourself if you'd like.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I will say that the black community does have a culture crisis on its hands.

I'm also not absolving the black community for their wrongdoings. I am, however, giving a reason to the cause. Though I'm sure itd not the sole reason.

Around the 60's I believe. Before that they had marriage rates around the same level of whites.

Specifically, the disintegration of the black family can be traced to Johnson's "War on Poverty", which basically destroyed the family unit by giving incentives for having children out of wedlock and not working. Ironically, white liberals did more to destroy the vibrant black families than any racist could have dreamed possible.

Oh, I know. Things didn't happen in a vacuum.

I think it's sad that the argument has turned into both sides trying to find inherent faults within the opposite race, when in reality it's the inherent fault in all of us as human beings.

If the shoes were on the other feet in history, do you think black people would have been more kind/tolerable over the course of American history? World history? Lol of course not.

Of course I read it. I posted it. But statistics can't be racist. Can they?

Fact is, poor whites make up about 45% of America's poor. Blacks living in poverty make up about 25% of the nations poor. Yet (in 2007) half of the murder victims in this country were black men, with 93% of those murders coming at the hands of other blacks.

LINK

So it doesn't follow that violent crime stems merely from poverty levels rather than a combination of poverty and race.

Black men murder each other at a significantly higher rate in America than other racial groups in the same poverty bracket.
