After further investigation, the Bell County Sheriff's Department said they discovered the dogs belonged to Johnny Dale Lankford, 42, who was already being held in the Bell County Detention Center on charges from Friday, December 22nd for assault 2nd degree, domestic violence, unlawful imprisonment 2nd degree and a bench warrant.
Deputies said they interviewed Lankford inside the detention center and charged him with harboring a vicious animal, he was already being held on a $25,000 bond.
Typical pit bull aficionado

So my dog has some pit in him. He’s a mutt that I rescued from behind my work.
I’m sure all you e-badasses are ready to come hunt me down.
No, no one gives much of a damn about you. Enjoy your dog, however, if your dog were to find it’s way into my yard it’s unlikely it would be much fun afterward.

Damn that's a rough 42. When I close my eyes and imagine a typical Pit owner, this is the type guy I see.

Gramps should be nominated as a People’s Health Champion for eradicating two pits.

I'd probably just shoot the owner then shoot myself. They were likely married 30-40 year's. I don't know if I could go on.

Knoxville Tn news had an update on this story: the shot dog went back to the porch where it had lived, and there it was dispatched.
Unasked and unanswered is the question: when the owner was arrested, who took over care of his pets? This would have applied if he had kittens, chickens, or the dogs. I don't know the answer, but take someone away, and some provision has to be made for pets and farm animals left at the home place.
