Went 2 years ago.
Went to Jim Beam, Makers, Woodford, Four Roses, and Wild Turkey. I highly recommend all but Wild Turkey (way too corporate feeling and the bourbon sucks). I would love to go back and go to Buffalo Trace (for Blantons).

I'm headed up to Louisville with one of my jackass friends for a few days in May.
When are you there? We have a group of five that will be doing the trail on the 19th of May.

Here is a guide created by the guys on r/bourbon. It covers everything on the trail. Can't wait to do it myself one day!

Makers is the best tasting

We have everything et through Mint Julep Tours. Luxury bus for 10-hours, private tours, and lunch. About $300 for the each of us.

Makers Mark, Woodford, and four roses were my favorites. Jim beam, wild turkey and heaven hill were more like mass production facilities, and reminded me of a small chemical plant. There is one in Louisville that I didn't like at all, but their Kentucky Bourbon ale is worth trying.

That sounds great!
We are just going to wander around buzzed for three days, stopping to look at anything that interests us.
We are driving ourselves but bringing a breathalyzer along to stay legal.
Anybody know the limit in Kentucky?

Woodford property is awesome
Wild turkeys new building is great
Makers is fun and a easy trip
4roses is the best party. Or at least when I went my tour guide was hammered and let us over pour

Where are you staying in Louisville? I usually stay at the Galt House which has a nice bar in the crosswalk over 4th st. but it is an older hotel. The Hyatt Regency is close to the Galt House and is an easy walk to 4th street live which is a good place to hang out at night with several eating options. You should definitely try Doc Crows nice bar and really good food. Angels Envy also just opened there visitor center a few blocks from here. My favorite distillery was Buffallo Trace just because of the old buildings. Jim Beam and Heaven Hill probably have the best visitor centers.

Do not buy any bottles at the distillery. They are cheaper at your local store. Went to Jim Beam last year and 15 years earlier. Liked it better 15 years ago. Too touristy now. Didn't even recognize the place. I'm sure they are all the same way these days. You'll have fun though if you've never been.

Beautiful places notice the black trees and ask them why they are black.
