On the contracting side we had a lot of training in the roll back shooting position. It is a good thing to practice for those who conceal carry for realistic encounters.
Another good one is direct body contact and then backing up an arms length and shooting from just out of holster aiming for center mass.

That's exactly the right thing to do in a situation like that. The cop has the perp at gunpoint and obviously help is on the way, what are you going to do that doesn't distract the cop at least and get yourself shot at worst?

I do. He knew the driver was exiting the vehicle and if you look closely you can see he's holding the rifle. That takes big brass ones to round that corner knowing there's a good chance shite's about to go down.

Not approach him in a car on his left side, you stop dumbass, hell stopping and backing up blocking traffic is preferable to entering his peripheral vision, again you dumbass.
