I know that guy ou are hurting for your friend's family. In a time like this, our natural tendency is to relive every situation to try to find out what went wrong or how they could have done things different. But what I have found is that you cannot go to the shoulda's, coulda's or woulda's. They will eat you alive. Attempting to drive while looking in the rearview mirror will only cause another wreck. Focus on the good memories, give yourself time to grieve and focus the children on the life that is still yet to be lived.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. My friend is obviously a wreck but is doing about as good as you could expect. His parents were able to fly over quickly and they are with him now.

Our first sergeant here is already teaming up with leadership at his new unit to make sure he gets every resource available to help him move forward.

I know we typically only get the negative news, but human kindness and giving knows no bounds. It's a shame that it usually takes great tragedy for it to show.

Again, thanks for all the kind words.

That absolutely sucks. I have had a buddy kill himself, and all you do is ask, why? Depression is a horrible thing to go through. I pray for the family, and specifically the dad, and that God gives him strength.

That is a shame. Depression is a real issue.
