I received a jury notice in the mail and the dates are when I will be in Disney world. Has anyone ever ran into this situation? What are the chances they will excuse me?

Honestly, what you do is just throw it away because nobody can prove you actually received it.

Just call and reschedule it. You can reschedule up to 3 times.

Send them a copy of your flight schedule requesting they let you off the hook.

They should mail you a response in a week or two.

This is the correct answer. It's not proper service if sent by regular mail so there's no consequences for not complying.

When I was a kid the sheriffs department would come around and hand serve you a summons for jury duty. They don't seem to do that anymore.

Call them and provide dates you aren't available.

In our little town if they're running low in the jury pool, they've been known to go out and pull people in off the street.

There should be instructions on the jury duty notice for how to request to be excused for hardship, previously scheduled travel, etc.

Just write a letter explaining that you already have a trip scheduled and mail it to them, preferably with a copy of hotel/airline reservation info. You should get a letter back from the courthouse telling you that you've been excused. I've had to do it before in Jefferson Parish and had no trouble getting excused.

If I have jury duty next month, do you think I can get dismissed early if I wear a MAGA hat or shirt?

Honestly the last time I was called in for jury duty was 4-5 years ago, I went in and the defendant was sitting there with his attorney and they called people up 1 by one and asked them if they'd make a good juror and I said no bc I could already tell the guy was guilty and there was some oooh's and ahh's but they let me go. Jury duty is the biggest waste of time, my wife wasted 2 weeks of her life on an insurance trial for some rich guy's yacht engine failing she was paid $20/day or something and parking was $12/day.

In my county you can reschedule but don't overdo it (I was recently called and one person on the list had already scheduled five times; the judge was somewhat humorous in saying that if that person was asking for another reschedule to see Disney World for the sixth time they would need to talk).

Sorry kids, you'll just have to go to Disney with Mom. Dad has got to do his civic duty.

They'll excuse you for the duration of your trip. Just go in and explain the situation.
