Agreed.

I think something other than autism was happening, some other more serious mental illness.

People who file or comment on these suits should get the chance to try and control a violent person for ten minutes. I have fought someone much smaller than me who was violently trying to get away and it is nothing like the movies. It is almost impossible to control them without choking them out or beating them senseless. Both things that police are not allowed to do these days.

The wife works with autistic kids. It happens. The older, bigger kids who have meltdowns can be dangerous. A toddler tripping out, just a matter of holding them down.

Absolutely this. I had a patient last year with a broken humerus and clavicle from a 12 year old autistic kid who went full meltdown at school - she and another aide tried to keep him from hurting himself and the other kids. They eventually were able to get him into an empty room and had to let him ride it out for about an hour. A big autistic kid having a crisis is just as hard to deal with as someone on drugs

JP isn't saying those measures were needed, they are saying they didn't deploy those measures.
