Been quite for several years now, you can do it.

I've "quit" dipping myself multiple times (currently haven't had one in about a year).
So congrats on kicking the habit for a week, but I'm warning you that you need to keep your mind sharp. Don't get complacent.
In the big scheme of things, 5 days is nothing. The true test comes when you face "trigger" situations like stress, fatigue, drinking, boredom, etc.
Seriously, not trying to dog you. Just trying to help.

I thought the OP said "dripping."

Congrats on being less trashy

My problem is I drive a couple of 6+ hour trips per week. That's when it gets difficult. I need to stop and am probably going to go the gum route.

It took me a month before the cravings went away. Pretty soon you'll forget you even quit.
2x ex smoker. About a pack a day.

I quit about five years ago and have been on the gum ever since. Better than dipping I guess.

Definitely worth trying Links. Just do it!

Nugget, i used to drive 120k miles a year for work. I can definitely relate to dipping while driving.

It's hard to quit. I still currently dip and I'm always around people who do it and am always hunting, fishing, or doing some kind of sport or activity which is when I always dip so I guess when the time comes for me to quit it's going to be one SOB

Tried the fake dip
Is that the new coffee one?
My dad dips on occasion when on long drives, he swears the new coffee ones work just as well as regular dip, and said, at least to him, they taste very similar.

I'd be glad if my son reached this point, same as you. Congrats on your decision and your resolve!

Haven't seen this method of quitting mentioned yet, so here goes... Dipped for 15+ years, tried all the quitting fads multiple times, without success. Then, my employer sponsored a tobacco cessation program as part of the overall wellness program.
The company reimbursed me 100% for what I spent on cessation products, such as patches, gum and a medication called Wellbutrin. I learned that, for me, the addiction was 50% nicotine and 50% mental/habit.
The patches weaned me off the nicotine while the med simultaneously eliminated my mental withdrawal symptoms (primarily distraction from focusing). I did not have any side effects from the med, found it to be very light, not noticeable.
Hope this is helpful to anyone really wanting to quit, but haven't been successful with products so far. I hate to promote a med, but for this purpose, it could be life altering for someone.
*Consult your doctor first, obligatory disclaimer

I'm 44 and have been dipping since I was like 14. I quit for two years in college cold turkey and started up again when my brother gave me a chew of Grayhound (lol).
My cousin's husband died a few months ago from oral cancer and I was in the room with them and their doctor after his first surgery to remove the tumor and most of his jaw, and the doctor told them that a new more aggressive tumor had formed. He died about 2 weeks later because there was nothing that could be done. That meeting, of course, did stick with me.
Checking out the killthecan.org website and the herbal dip alternatives.. I take it those products are completely safe right?
I think it's time I try to quit again.. for good.
