What are you guys using to rent the places you're staying? Flying into Cancun?

How much is the transportation between Cancun Airport and the island? Assuming taxi to ferry, ferry ride and taxi to hotel may be expensive. Looking at doing an all inclusive on the island in September for anniversary.

Nice review and pics. I'm going to Playa Mujeres this summer. Is that kind of similiar in terms of water and scenery? I believe they are right next to each other

take ado bus to Cancun terminal and take taxi to ferry to the island.
Ado bus was like $7 a person and the taxi ride was 200 pesos. Ferry ride was like 70 pesos per person. Very cheap and fast

Damn you!! That place is becoming less of a secret!
It's an awesome place for a vacation. My boss leases a house for the winter down there and we take clients sail fishing. Amazing little island getaway

Even better. Looking at Privilege Aluxes on the north end of the island. Looking forward to this!

if you're going this route i'd look at Ixchel Beach instead. Better beaches and accommodations for the price.

Privilege is just too close to the public beach.

I don't see any all inclusive options for them. Do you know if that is available? I know trashy, blah blah, but wife and I enjoy the AI deals more for the drinks than food.

i can see where you'd want all inclusive in many places in Mexico but you'll see that it's really not something needed on that island. Especially in that location of the island with so many places to shop and eat within one block of either hotel. But to answer your question. No, Ixchel does not have an all inclusive option.

Good to know. Last time we went to Cancun, we did all inclusive at Dreams and it was great. We felt the resort several times to eat but did most of the drinking on-site. I will look into Ixchel some more.

Another awesome spot for food, you need to check it out. Their Huevos benedict y fish tacos are killer!

This place is brand new and very modern, and is everything the rest of the island is NOT. There is a contemporary Thai/Japanese restaurant on the bottom floor that looks snazzy but we opted to eat more "local". Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

That hotel is also right by the busiest part of Playa Norte so you can forget about a quiet beach setting. Here is a photo we took right by that hotel.

Calm and chill...just what we wanted. There are some rooftop bars with live bands that play Jimmy Buffet style music and some American rock...they were surprisingly good actually.

Hidalgo street has a place called Koko Nuts which seemed to be "the spot" for the younger party crowd, it was packed every time we walked by.

Here is their FB Page

It does say they have a private beach area roped off from public beach with their own bar. Damn that looks like Redneck Riviera status.
