Perhaps, but don't you think they may have pushed him past the point of giving a shite? You can push a person to the point they realize that no matter what they do you're still going to kill them. Once they reach that point is when they generally take on a "go frick yourself" attitude.

The video I saw earlier of ISIS taking truckloads of prisoners and executing them was enough for me
