Haha, pretty much this

quote:

Plus he did things with optics and light.

I don't think he gets enough credit for his work in fluid dynamics personally. NO ONE mapped fluids mathematically before Newton.

quote:

Einstein was practically worthless in math. Although his work was both important at the atomic/quantum level, as well as astrophysics - much of his importance is based on his research filling in the gaps that Newtonian physics didn't account for. That's clean-up work, relatively speaking.

Let's not completely discount Einstein. Relativity is one of the most mind-boggling concepts in science. To be able to think of time not as an absolute figure but as a relative concept is still something I'd say 99% of the educated world struggles with.

I might give Einstein the nod if he wasn't so vehemently against quantum mechanics (something he could conceivably be considered the discovering father of).

Well yeah, it's a pretty sweet stache.

He was also 6'6". Tall, dark, and handsome - crazy pigeon-loving aside.

Nah, just finished reading Steve Hawkings' A Brief History of Time and Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nerely Everything. Awesome books if you're into this stuff.

Yep. Way underrated.

Edison was a dick!

Albert wasnt too keen on quanta or packets of energy iirc.

I think my initial thought was politically, and Einstein would certainly be higher than Newton in that regard. Scientifically, probably Newton. I'm fighting with myself internally on who was more important.

I was just reading the comic about Tesla again and I saw that.

Newton.

And Tesla over Einstein in terms of practical applications to our lives.

This is what staggers me about reading the history of our understanding of science. The age at which so many scientists discovered some of the most staggering concepts blows my mind. Reading about some of the projects Steven Hawkings worked on as a student is absurd

I'd go with Tesla. That guy was just on another level than any man we have seen before or since. If Edison wasn't such a cocksucker, no telling the direction our society would have gone. We are living in Edison's world now, and unlike the other 3 mentioned in this thread, I have little to no respect for him.
