I think the look in that picture is an upper middle class southern white look
It happens to be that is what frats are completely comprised of so I see how that look gets associated with them

I could've sworn I've seen that pic of you with the aluminum bud light multiple times. Almost positive you used it to give an example of outfits. I might have my details wrong.
As for the outfits, me and my bros didn't dress that uniformly in college. The only time I really ever wear polo shirts is when I'm golfing.
