That is one of my Katrina memories. It sucked, but there was no light pollution for a hundred miles in Southern Mississippi.

You can pretty much see the Milky Way from anywhere in Louisiana that's not in the middle of a city. Tonight should be a pretty decent night after the Moone sets. Just get away from lights and give your eyes 15-30 minutes to adjust. While you are waiting, get pair of binoculars and a copy of "Turn Left at Orion" to learn how and where to look for constellations.

Kisatchie National Forest. There are two stone mesas along the Long Leaf Vista Trail that afford the best view that I know of in Louisiana.
(and technically, if your eyes are open you are seeing the Milky Way Galaxy since we are a part of it)

a holograph is projected light, what we see in space is projected light, so yea, it is more or less, don't strain yourself with these massive thought processes though, save some for later!
