The key is not possession it is exclusive possession. That means the party that has legal title to the property can't EVER use it during the statutory period.
This isn't even close to AP in LA or any jurisdiction I am licensed in or am aware of.
Again AP suits that win are extremely rare.
The majority that succeed are when someone owns property that is remote from their residence and they (or their agents) never visit it and someone starts using it openly as if they own it.
There are a few boundary disputes where both properties are occupied that succeed however they almost always involve fences, walls or etc. You don't have to use the portion of the property often at all to prevent a AP claim.
