Imagine when people can just go to a machine, for free, to quell our sexual urges.
Petty crime may well become non existent.
Fulfill the basic needs of people and keep them entertained.
After all, that'll be the main priority once the robots make unskilled labor obsolete.
Then we'll wonder why they are unkilled labor.
They'll stop being useful.

Nothings changed. It was, is and always will be the same way. There's nothing special about a generation. They're constructs of people who have too much time on their hands. Every "generation" carries some traits forward from the previous, and will pass some of hem on to the next. Nothing new under the sun they say, and it's true.
Unless some punctuated event occurs that instantly changes humanity, we'll resemble the previous generation more than we'd like to think. We're not as special or unique as we imagine.

It's not entertainment, but quality of life people desire, no matter what generation they hail from. The problem is that most people are still trying to make the square peg fit in the round hole to fulfill their desire for a quality of life with material possessions and quantity of them, when the real answer is belonging, purpose, community, spiritual fulfillment, and all that comes with it, as well as shite to do. Today, the generations I see around me, Boomers through Z are all doing the same old shite and probably more miserable today than ever really. It's fake arse pretentious shite, from our religions to our entire social scene. Everyone's keeping up appearances and putting on faces. Few really do get it, that which former generations did understand without actually verbalizing it perhaps.

The 3 things that will change everything forever in the next 30 years: The transporter/replicator which will make traveling instant and will eradicate hunger on earth. Digital implants of knowledge into your brain which will make schools obsolete. And full body diagnostic scanners capable of diagnosing any/all medical problem(s) in minutes all the way down to the cellular level.

can you imagine how this would be regulated? who would decide who gets what information, how smart they would be... what would be the price on it? who would monopolize it? government or privately owned? what about countries fighting over what knowledge would be available and what would be best? what about the technology needed for it? would it change the hierarchy of which nation is the smartest? or which social class would be the smartest?

Most people will never figure that out, no matter what generation you're talking about. Maybe 60 years from now..

And does every bit of that now, and still miserable because he lives in a society that resembles a traveling circus or tent city with nothing that indicates he may want to stay a while, but move on to the new and shiny down the road when the metal rusts in a few years, where he can then build more metal buildings with stucco fronts.
He buys a house in the middle of a pasture with no trees, almost exactly like his neighbor, travels an absurd amount of time in the car juggling texting and driving and avoiding the texting and drivers, only to come home and watch TV on his big flat screen and try to find some peace and quiet in between bringing junior to soccer, princess to dance, and bringing in the groceries from momma's regular trip to the world of Wally.
His big aspirations are maybe going eat a delicious meal at a half arse chain restaurant, hopefully with a bunch of TVs on the wall so he doesn't miss the tigers on sports center, and maybe if he's really lucky he can go outside and hunt or fish, or at least catch someone doing it on TV when he gets back home.
