I tried to explain to you guys before. It can't be Saudi. Is Saudi making all the merchants around the world rich? How can a nation that is not married to God commit a whoredom? Who would cry if Saudi got destroyed? Is Saudi currently over the Kings of the Earth? What is the most powerful nation on the Earth right now?

Is the United States by the Red Sea? Because if you're not by the Red Sea, you're not the mystery, Babylon.

I tend to consider the lilies...I don't worry about the future, despite how thoroughly interesting I think prophesy and futurism is...

The one whose Presidents kowtow to the Saudi royal family.
That said, the Book of Revelation is a coded treatise on contemporary events, not a prophetic work. The beast is the Roman Empire and 666 is Nero. (Some scholars believe the correct translation is 616 which would be Caligula.)

Can you explain a little why you believe this?

It was probably pagan Rome, or maybe Jerusalem, but in any event, it was about a city that existed at the time of the writing of Revelation. Most of the attempts to keep re-interpreting Revelation to refer to current places/things/events are borne of a desire not to recognize that the things predicted by Revelation did not happen - long ago - as they were predicted to - in Revelation.
This is pretty easy to understand. If you believe that the events of Revelation aren't just allegorical and are yet to come, then you are cornered into attempting to keep changing your interpretation, especially if you believe, like many, that the second coming will occur in your lifetime - a fairly popular belief among Christians for the last few hundred years.

Neither of which is by the Red Sea, so you're already wrong. Rest of post ignored.

The point is that it doesn't matter. It's a failed prophecy either way.

So we are in fact beyond the 1,000 year age of Christ?

I have always viewed that round number as meaning a "long time." Whereas Revelation 3:11, 22:12-13 and 22:20-21 are in conflict with the "long time" statement, or even "1000 years" by any reasonable interpretation of "soon."
On the other hand, if Revelation is allegory, then we needn't worry too much about who the "whore of Babylon" is.
