It's the same basic idea as president of a company.

Plus who cares. It only matters once a company is public anyway

It's sort of like saying you are a 'Quarterback'. It doesn't mean much without context. It could be the Quarterback for an NFL team, an Arena team, or your city flag football team.

Yep, but I will say there can be a stark difference between the comp/responsibilities of one vp to another. One in the accounting world I see is controller, everyone's a freaking controller. But just find the corporate controller and you've found your person of power.
