I believe with the magazine they can argue that the magazine is sold in places where marijuana is legal and that their ads are targeted to those geographics and only sales in those areas are permitted.

Whereas, Backpage is facilitating illegal activities in areas that it is expressly forbidden by law.

Probably so. As much money as they make I would imagine they are paying off some law makers too.

Is this similar to poker site or other type of gambling sites?

Yes, because hooking up with an escort who advertises on such a site is definitely gambling.

Considering prostitution is illegal in the constitution, I'd say it's illegal not to shut them down. Hell this thread is kind of illegal too, you'll be lucky if it isn't whacked and you go to jail.

Evidently the site backpages is no longer allowed to allow people to post escort ads on the site. I checked it out and it shows "censored" on the categories that are no longer allowed. And when you click the category there is a message about how the government unconstitutionally censored the material on the site.

What is unconstitutional about this? Is this similar to poker site or other type of gambling sites? Take draft kings for example, it depends on what state you live in as to whether or not you are allowed to play and that isn't unconstitutional.

It's sad you have to pay women money to be intimate with you. I'm so sorry.

Having said that, a consenting adult not being able to offer sex acts for a price is beyond comprehension. Especially in a country where porn is legal.

I think it goes to the makeup of our society. Prostitution (legal or not) is an immoral, deviant act. It would inevitably lead to more broken homes. Some (not all) women who act as prostitutes or escorts would ultimately be forced into it. It's just not something our country should promote.

Yeah, cause you have no idea if you are John #1 that day or John #5 with very little "clean up" in between.

Good chance you are gonna have some other dudes ball sweat all over you.

Not too mention that the majority of prostitutes have some history of STDs.

What this ad purports is unconscionable, not unconstitutional.
