That’s not the same thing as an ER visit. Waiting for an inpatient bed means the determination has been made that this person needs to be admitted to the hospital but for whatever reason has not been admitted yet- no available beds, calling in extra staff because of capacity issues, waiting on shift change, waiting their “turn” on the list of its to be admitted from the ER, etc. Compare that to OPs daughter who was seen in the ER and sent home. Totally different situation. Neither of which are submitted as hospitalized covid patients.

Yeah they just want to know if we are in a situation where there are patients with COVID waiting in the ED for a bed.
AZ does have a COVID surge line the hospitals can use if there is a situation where a COVID patient needs a bed and the hospital they are at is full. So I would imagine that info is helpful for the surge line.
