I wonder if they´ve heard of the New York Dolls in Nigeria?

Songs with meaning are far more interesting than fluff songs.

Some songs are just fun though. Think about “you never even called me by my name”
It doesn’t always have to have a deeper meaning. And some just tell a fun story. Like Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner

Sure. Hair metal was "fun metal" but there's really no personal connection outside of association.
Lyrics provoke thought, fun music hits raw emotion. Some of our most revered troubadours are story tellers

I think all music is storytelling in a way. Good stuff at least.
You might appreciate this The Ballad Of Killdozer

That’s the current goal. Make new connections and also force myself to learn at least rudimentary guitar

The song sucks
country music sucks
therefore the song is country music.
Proved with mathematical precision.

Can someone pinpoint the resurgence of Africa and Don’t Stop Believin’?
People think they’ve discovered something. I’m not criticizing the songs, I’m criticizing the lemmings.
Add Sweet Caroline to this.

Johnny´s Hideaway closing song for aaaaaaaaaages. You´ve got people who party in Atlanta spreading the disease.
When I say ages, I mean, since the mid 1980´s.

It's the first song about a white woman getting bang out by an African savage.
Don't hate the messenger. She was kidnapped and taken and banged out by lounge cloth wearing spear chinking savages.
Watch the video.
Loved Toto back in the day though.

Wow.
From David Paich, the songwriter: "At the beginning of the '80s I watched a late night doc about the terrible death and suffering of the people in Africa. It moved and appalled me, and the pictures just wouldn't leave my head. I tried to imagine how I'd feel if I was there."

The one where the white guy is crushing on the black librarian while he researches a symbol for Africa in the books?

So Buck took out an ad in the country music trade paper vowing, "I will play no song that is not a country song."
Shortly afterward, Buck put out a cover of Chuck Berry's "Memphis"
When people accused him of breaking his promise with his latest record, Buck replied, "Oh that... That's not rock, that's rockabilly."
