No. That's why Star Wars is fantasy and not science fiction. That fact alone ends that debate.

Didn't you watch Interstellar? It just took someone solving the equation.

ETA I assume you mean when ships are operating on or near planet surfaces.

Allows wondered if the storm trooper suit idea would looked at by the military. Always thought the body armor would be great for saving arms and legs of troops getting hit by explosives etc...

Suit would work like it does in the movie, not very well. Never saw a storm trooper suit stop a laser [projectle].

In terms of limbs maybe, but with the added weight on your extremities you need some sort of mechanized movement or you'd be too ineffective in combat

IMO

Somebody more famous than myself once said something like, "Star Wars is science fiction, Star TREK is science future".

Could still probably work in light sabers though.

Do you think that technology would be used more as a tool than a weapon though?

A light saber is essentially the same laser beam that is shot from their guns, just longer and stationary.

No one has reflexes to use it as a defense, and why swing a beam when you can shoot them with more speed and obviously rage.

A light saber pocket knife would make a hell of cutting tool though

Operating close to the surface of a planet (mass of the planet comes into play), but once outside the gravity well both the ship and its inhabitants are in free fall. Hell even operati g close to the planet they are in free fall unless some other force is countering that (rockets, lift from wings) operating on the ship which then presses against the inhabitants.
