I can’t sleep. And I’m prescribed ambien. Don’t want to take it everyday but I really can’t sleep without it. I hope I’m not screwing myself. 10mg night. Has anyone else fought this battle and won. Really sucks

I had taken Ambien for years and didn't like the way it had me in a fog driving to work in the mornings so I got off the stuff before I killed someone in a car wreck. Now I wear myself out by working out in the mornings and running after work in the evenings. My quality of sleep is a thousand times better.

It’s been kicking my butt for about a year now, I see myself looking older and older in the mirror as I know it’s taking a toll on me. You figure it out let me know

Tips that helped me:
1- Get you a bedtime routine and stick to it.
2- (This helped most) Do not get into bed until you are about to pass out. Train your body to know that its time to go out once you crawl into bed. If you like to read before bed, do that in the living room or kitchen or wherever besides your bed.
Used to have trouble falling asleep until I did the above. Not saying its a cure all but might be worth a shot.

I have issues going to sleep before 4am most nights. Whether I get in bed at 11 or 3am I can almost never get to sleep until I am worn out. I usually get up around 11-12. It sucks but I get so much more done before bed than I do in the hours after waking up.

I have the opposite problem. I won’t fall asleep until about 1 or so. I can stare at the ceiling for a long time. Come weekends, I struggle to get out of bed before noon.
It’s been suggested I need to wear a mask at night, but I’m not going down that road yet.
