1. Get new number from your carrier

2. Stop giving your phone number to every subscription service and rewards program and free trial and whatever shiny object crosses your path

3. Spend an hour or two removing yourself from the data harvester/broker "people search sites"

4. Use your new real number for family and friends. Use a free burner Google voice number or pay $2/mo for a MySudo number to use for all your services like banking and insurance. Use a fake number or second burner for subscriptions and rewards and bullshite stuff

That will eliminate 90% of the spam calls.

just like to screw with them

I do this with telemarketers. My favorite is to tell them that this is not a good time for me to talk as I am trying to take a dump. Make loud grunting noises. Ask them if they are selling a plunger.

I was posting about this on the political board not too long ago.

When have free time and they call I will sometimes answer and to save it I'm unkind would be an understatement. The other day I kid you not I told the person that I hoped his entire family died in a fire. He paused for a second and then he started his Spiel again. When he asked me another question I said I was still fine but I I was wrong I hope that both he and his entire family died in the fire. I shite you not he started his Spiel again!

I stopped answering my phone for anything that didn't come up with a name I recognized. They never left a voicemail and after about 3 months, they've (mostly) stopped.

Now, I get door to door solicitors for pest control even though there's big signs at the entrance to our neighborhood forbidding soliciting.

I get maybe one "potential spam" call per week and I don't answer. What are yall doing to attract so many?

Answering a spam call breeds more.

I get these calls from spoofed numbers no lie 25+ times a day. I’ve tried being nice, yelling, and messing with them to take me off this list. Nothing works

I was in your situation then 1 day answered "Domino's pizza, can I help you?"

They hung up and I haven't received another call in over a year. I guess that's the trick.

It’s 2025.

I’m surprised they even let you call to place an order. They should have hung up on you first for being a moron that didn’t want to use the internet.

Not really scammers, but I hate when our companies contract out customer service to India. I tried to order a pizza from Domino’s the other day and couldn’t understand the guy so I hung up.

Our nearby Papa Johns started doing that. Turns what used to be a simple 30 second phone call into a big hassle of dodging upsells and deciphering broken English. We haven’t ordered from them since.
