I don't think that's where OP was going. It's putting valuables (watches, phones, wallets) into the bag you're sending through the scanner, as opposed to flopping that shite in the TSA tray where it's sitting out in plain view.
The only thing I have on my person when I hit the first ID check is my passport and my ticket. Everything else is already in my carryon.

Aren't you allowed to hold valuables in your hands above your head when you go through the scanner?
But I don't travel with cash so anything worth stealing is buried deep in my locked carryon. Stealing my phone would be too obvious. Any missing cards from my wallet would be immediately missed.

Same, but just to say I did. This probably deserve its own thread, but the slots at the airport are calibrated to the lowest legal return. I think they're 80ish% payout compared to 92-95% for the casinos in Vegas and off-strip.
Bigger robbery than any theft that TSA agents pull.

LOL, F no. We've already talked about people being nailed for chapstick in a cargo pocket. The useless system will flag anything you're holding as a manual screen request.
Better yet, don't go through the scanners, and just do Pre Check, and get a pat down after the metal detector if need be.
