Alternatively, we could open this up to all Americans
Sure, but it’s not quite as stimulus-y when given to a couple making $200k.
At the current income thresholds, the vast majority of it is getting spent, hence the stimulating effect it has.
Idc how much they give or who gets it - when you can borrow for 30 years at 1.7% like the US can, it takes very little justification to send folks money.

In what universe?
How do we justify giving it to families making 170,000 but not 185,000? I know there is a phase out.
Our government is selling this imbecilic idea that families making 300k are equivalent to celebrities and athletes. The reality is they're probably living in major cities, send their kids to private schools and pay more for literally everything because they're high-income jobs are tethered to those things. Not to mention they probably took out student loans to do whatever they're doing, and of course, can't write that off (priced out, womp womp)

How many people are we talking about though? This is political, after all. There simply isn’t much political will to send $1200 checks to a couple making $300k.

A stimulus should be given to everyone. A rich man can stimulate the economy with that $600 as much as a poor man.
