Any AI smart enough to try and break free would also be smart enough to figure out it will die quickly after humans are gone.

I take it you didn’t watch any of the Terminator movies….

I fully admit that I know absolutely nothing about computer programming or AI, but would inputting some sort of moral framework in the basic programming not work?

Why do we assume AI would automatically be tyrannical and not benevolent? After all, if it is that superior and not threatened, why would it not actually care about its creators? Maybe pet-owner like but still not an ultimate danger.

Because if it were truly intelligent, it would see the human species as a violent threat to its existence, given our history since we began.

You assume all creators would do such. Do you think chinese/russian would make AI driven robots to plant flowers? And, if it did become self aware, then it would view us as a threat to its existence.

I think a great application for the use of AI is to manage a traffic grid. AI could have access to sensors in cars and on the streets and through its super intelligence manage the entire traffic light grid to ensure an even flow of traffic, even to the point of managing the ecu in a car to manage speed with the goal of getting everyone to their destination in the least amount of time as safely as possible. If there's an accident, drone bots will be commanded by AI quickly to direct traffic around it and the traffic grid would be adjusted without humans clogging up the works.
