Unfathomable what that would look like at the site of the now old riverbed. How huge of a muddy trench would it leave? What the hell kind of old shite currently at riverbottom would be revealed?

Apparently this now somehow also alters global sea levels.

In the unlikely event that they have to let a portion of the river flow through the Atchafalaya due to some sort of failure, it would only be temporary. The USACE will keep the river where it is.
