It's happened a couple of times. I remember heading to downtown Baton Rouge to see it as a kid circa 83-84. It was really cool and my mom took pictures. I'll look for em.

Fonville Winans also captured this pic of it in happening in 1938.

I was just joking. I actually remember one time. Well I was a kid, but sort of remembered from it being talked about throughout the years, but it must have been the 83-84 event, but there were blocks of ice in bayou Plaquemine and near the locks.. And part of the highway over bayou Plaquemine had to be shut down.

My mom has kept newspapers from every event going back before I was born. She has them in plastic bins. I am sure if I went through them all I would find the one from this event.

Remember well. I actually thought there was a release of some chemical like Styrofoam from EXXON. Gigantic car size hunks of what was ice floating down from up north. It was sometime in the mid 1980's.

I remember big chucks of ice floating down the river back then. It was a big deal back then.
