I think one of the problems with social media is that people are brutally honest online.

There is no filter. It's like everyone's mean-spirited inner thoughts are broadcast to the world. Think about it in real life. If we went around all day in real life saying EXACTLY what was on our mind, right to other people's faces day in and day out... it would be absolute chaos out there.
But we don't do it because we don't want to deal with the drama and you'd look like an absolute a-hole.

The biggest problem is the lower tiers of society have bought into this whole "im gonnabe honest no matter what anyone thinks" and with attitude show why they'll never be successful in life.

I think you're wrong. Bots and paid accounts are used to pump up the most provocative BS. Most people have a lot to lose and won't overstep common decency. As technology advances this only gets worse.
Point blank, just talk to other people of differing views in person. In my experience, they don't even hint at being on the level of anything that is portrayed from the left on social media.
