Nevermind the LSU topic then 
If it were me I'd try and make the topic interesting and base it on something the class can find somewhat interesting.
Duck dynasty pops in my head. There's several different ways you could form a speech on their recent popularity. Living in Monroe, I think you would catch the audience more so than a cliche topic

There's a couple tree-huggers in there that are dicks so I think I'll go with go with a global warming less worry about the environment, show more love. Seems the most efficient way to get a reaction. Even though it will be negative, they will be pissed. 1-point for me, 100 points for my grade.

Yeah, I love the people that complain about us causing "climate change" but still drive cars, use electricity, etc... Al Gore has a 20,000 square foot house and no solar panels. You fill up your car with gas, have electricity and shite on oil companies. People are stupid.

I think a climate change is occurring.. I just don't know what's causing it... the earth has had tons of climate changes much more drastic than the current one.
People talk about saving the earth... pshhh.. the earth is gonna be FINE!!!! It's human's existence you may or may not wanna worry about.
