I have a problem with gofundme

First of all, it should be called "pleasefundme".
Secondly, and most importantly, this is nothing more than promoting communism. It encourages everyone chip in for the person who can't cut it on their own.
I have no problem with well deserved charity, but it should be handled on a local basis with a local group like a church or battered woman's shelter.
Setting up a gofundme because you blew next months rent up your nose New Years Eve is not a charitable cause.

What an original thought

You sound like you're promoting dictatorship with telling people how to spend their money

If anything, it is the opposite of communism. It encourages people to spend their money as they please. If I think someone deserves some charity, no matter the reason, I can throw some money their way.

I'm going to have gofundme take up a collection for you

Wrong. Communism is government forced and run programs which redistribute wealth equally to the masses regardless of need or accomplishment.

That's called basic human decency.

You'd rather an organization run a charity than individuals give as they please? That's closer to communism than gofundme

It's called free enterprise and freedom to give whatever you want to whoever you want. Deal with it. Commy.

It just irks me that a video game or proposed film can get 3 million in a few hours, but a real life situation that could use some relief can't pull a few hundred thousand.
I know people can do what they want with their money and all, but it's just disheartening.

That's what I'm really getting at.
Nah, it just bothers me that this trend is acceptable. I'd like to know how many accounts fall flat on their face. Surely 95% never collect more than $10.

Hence it's only...

promoting communism.
You know, advertising it as a good thing. I get that it's free will to donate as you please. I just think the idea for the website would have been laughed at a few years ago.

It's just a matter of what makes you feel better about yourself. If it makes you feel good that you helped contribute to a work of art that many will enjoy, what is wrong with that?

all this dam bitching and crying from the op... yet he is worried about someone else and their gofundme
Posted on 1/4/16 at 3:38 pm to Clyde Tipton
If someone can raise $100,000 to make potato salad, who are you to stop them! Damn Fascist!

It doesn't promote communism. With communism you don't have a choice but to pay. This is charity.

No, it's no specific cause or account. I have a problem with the idea/website in general.
