Damn I was hoping the cost went down.

You can get basic lasik for much cheaper. I didnt qualify for it though.

35 sounds good.
I was told don't get it much after 40 because you will probably become nearsighted in a few years and would still need glasses. I was ~35 when I had mine- glad I did

Holy crap -10...Dude.

Mine was -5 when I had it done in 2009...think it ran 17-1800 for the generic laser option...you could pay upwards of 2400 for a specialized one where they mapped your eyeball and cut you based on it...

Heard the custom laser operation could get results in the 20/15 range...I'm between there and 20/20.

Best money I've ever spent...I had it done by Dr. Singer in Metairie

I am using Dr Kloess in Birmingham

I'll be getting lens replacememt in both eyes early next year. Not looking forward to it although everyone I've spoken with says it's not a big deal....including my mother who had it at 79 years old.

Regarding lasik, my exwife had RK back in the 1990's. By hand, they cut 15 slices on one eye and 8 on the other....BY HAND! She was brave but, like you, she needed eye help. Good luck....it's way easier nowadays.

Thank you. I started wearing glasses in 3rd or 4th grade. Those bottle top glasses.

One thing I will be looking forward after it will be not having to go between glasses and contacts while hunting.

No more putting your fingers on your eyes

I was -8.50 in both eyes and had it done by Dr. Woo in Baton Rouge. $1,500 an eye and insurance covered 20%. Best money I've ever spent.

I'm at -3.75 and -4.5, have always thought about it but paranoid I'll be the unlucky a-hole that goes blind.

Got it done a couple years ago. Great decision. My eyes weren't even that bad, but just bad enough that I needed glasses/contacts. The laser itself is not bad at all but the suction cups they stick to your eyes beforehand are a bitch

Can you tell a difference if and when you'd go to a LSU sports event or going hunting/fishing?

My LASIK was $3,300.

Tips:
You hear stories of people who come out of the room with 20/20, but that was not me. For about a week I was barely able to drive. It took several weeks but my eyes settled on 20/20 and 20/25. For reference, I was 33 and my sight was -5.50.

If you are getting pain meds, get them filled before the procedure and take them immediately after. Then go to bed.

Buy lots of eye drops

Edit to add: The only thing that it didn't help was night time driving. I still get the same "peacock feathers" flare off of distant headlights. Doc explained it that the pupil dilates to a larger size than the corrected area. If you have this issue with contact lenses you will probably have it post-procedure.
