Bunch of ignorant motherfrickers ITT...

Go to the AKC website and look up pit bulls. They will tell you and I know for a fact that they are one of the best family dogs you can own.

My mom rescued a dog. He’s a boxer/pit mix. His brothers are basset hounds. I have 2 basset hounds. I’m pretty sure he thinks he’s a basset hound. He’s a good dog. She has several grandkids, we don’t leave any of the dogs, including the lazy Bassets, alone with the children, ever. Raise it right, you’ll be fine.

Good looking pup.

Does the average OT'er piss his pants whenever he sees a Pitt?

If he doesn't know he is supposed to be mean how is he going to learn? He is only a mix, maybe the boxer part is dominant determining personality. Show dog pit bulls don't rip off their owners faces. Your daughter is six so she should be old enough to not pull his tail or run at him unexpectedly or other things real little kids do to startle dogs sometimes.

He will probably tear into anybody who ever messes with your kid, which is a good thing.

They No shite about the breed except what they here on the news majority of the mauling’s aren’t even Pitbull related they so quick to say Pitbull it’s unreal. Give the dog a chance.

Same thing happened to me. We trained our dog well and give it lots of love, she’s a great dog. If you’re a good dog owner and raise it right, you’ll have a great dog.

Why take a risk by owning one these things??

But apologists will say they just weren’t ‘raised right’.
Well how do you know if that pit you are about to adopt was raised right? The dog can’t tell you.

Freaking time bombs.

heartbreaking story, Jason Dodge, whose daughter was killed Sunday by a family pit bull, talks about the newly acquired dog. Dodge got the approximately 1-year old pit bull from a friend who said she would take the dog to the pound if Dodge did not take it -- red flag number one. Dodge loved animals and knew "what would happen to a pit bull" at a pound -- red flag number two. Someone else's misfortune and guilt led to a decision that cost his child's life.

A 3-year old girl killed by a family dog has been identified as Rylee Dodge. Her father, Jason Dodge, said the dog is a pit bull that he had only taken in five days earlier from a friend. In an interview with KFOR, Dodge said he left his daughter at home Sunday with Rylee's grandmother. Dodge had only been away for about 20 minutes when he received a call that Rylee had been attacked. Dodge said Rylee opened up the front door to play with the dog and it attacked her.

Here’s a story of a dedicated pit bull owner who believed in the breed. Her dogs killed and ate her.

American Pit Bull Terriers are not recognized by the AKC. The American Staffordshire Terrier is, and yes it's a different breed from the pit bull.

If you're single and wanna own a pit then go ahead with your trashy self. If you have women or children in your home then someone needs to take you out back and beat the shite out of you for owning a pit. I'm an animal lover and dog owner but those dogs are too dangerous. Why don't you just go buy a lion cub.

This. But man these uneducated fricks on here could never grasp that. Their thought process is the reason for so many misidentified "pitbull" attacks.

The thing is, lots of the big pit bull mixes we see today ("designer pits") are actually bred with dogs that have much better temperaments than the APBT.

And the problem we see today is that people see a dog, thinks it looks cool, and think they can own one.

I knew a girl who wanted a German Shepherd. It bit a person who was jogging.

There are breeds that are bred to be aggressive. The question becomes can you, the owner, channel that energy and harness that aggression. It takes a personality.

See mean little dogs? People don't think much of it because they are small. In fact, they think it's cute.

That ignorance is similar to what we see in people who own larger dogs.

Are YOU right for the dog? That's the paramount question every owner should ask when they look to add a dog to the family.
