I-10 East Accident - P'ville/Gonzales

Looks like I-10 E is a parking lot right now due to 18 wheeler accident by La 30 exit. I have to get to NOLA for meeting at 9 AM this morning. I know I can take Nicholson down to 30 and hop on I-10, but I'm worried that may be backed up as well.
Can you take River Road all the way down to the Sunshine Bridge and hop back on at Sorrento to completely avoid/get around the accident? Or does it dead end by or before the old military base?

Airline to Sorrento, but it's most likely jammed now...

For what it’s worth, 30 looks fine on traffic maps now. The interstate is fricked. My BF got on at the Pville exit just before 6am, and he’s still nowhere near the Tanger exit 75 mins later.
