Here are the current motor specs:
Emerson Model KA55HXFGF-1732 (no luck googling this)
PT NO 8101-569 (replacements I've found reference this number)
230/208 V
825 RPM
60 HZ
1.2 AMPS
1/6B HP
PH 1
FRAME48Y
Update: I turned the fan manually again and turned the unit on. It kicked on, fan running, and was blowing cold air. 10 minutes later it was blowing room temp air and the fan had quit again. Just another symptom to help with further diagnosis.

this one would work for yours
LINK
It's a "rescue" and fits many models, though it's pricy.
This one is almost the exact same with a .1 amp difference. But $100 cheaper
LINK
Your update shows that the fan has bad windings.
Only one I see at a place I can search for, is in Harahan. None in BR (though I only have one DB in BR)

Stop playing with it. The motor is bad and needs replacing. Every time you let it run with the fan not working, you're damaging your compressor.

What difference would the .1 amp have, if any? My fut says to go as close to spec as possible but that's how I generally operate.

The rpm and HP is what matters the .1 amp means very very little, but the third link I posted ha a 1.2 amp and you can get it locally. (use the part number and call around by you)
and .1 is pretty darn close to spec

That just tells you how much power it uses when running. You'd want a lower number in theory, although you won't notice it on your bills. Get comparable rpm

Thanks Napoleon.
I think ill try the one with the slight amperage difference.

also no matter how hot it is. DO not keep trying to run your ac with a bad fan. It will damage the compressor and that cost's $1000's to replace and not $100s.
Though I have heard of people using sprinklers on the coils to keep them cool with no fan, it's not something I would trust the most necessary appliance in your home to.

And I'll add, unless you have a specific tool to extract the blades, you're going to want to remove the blade before purchasing your motor. Sometimes they slip right off, sometimes it's a nightmare.
Hopefully this isn't the case, but without that tool you potentially may need the blade also.

Thanks for the help. I figured it was bad to run ir so it's been off except for that one try.
Luckily the unit in the back half of the house is going strong.
Also, I would like to purchase locally if they had one in stock but im going out of town the last half of the week and my wife wouldn't be happy if I lwft without replacing it. Gonna likely do overnight or 1 day shipping so I can get it done on Tuesday.

are you familiar with Ideal Appliance parts?
They have a location in Harahan and Baton Rouge, your motor is in Harahan. Call and see how long it takes to get the part in BR. Metairie being the regional hub I know a van goes back and forth daily, just how long to get from Harahan to metairie to BR?
If they can do it in a day you are golden.

True. I'll call first thing in the am.

So I just finished removing the motor and an issue I'm seeing now is that the shaft length is much shorter than the replacements.
Can I juzt cut the excess off with a hack saw or something? If it dont cut any off, the shaft may be in conflict with the compressor below it.

yes the replacements are made to be universal. Also if it's loner and not affecting anything you can leave it as it is.
You can also cut it off. Shaft length isn't a factor.
It's to make sure it can be used on various models.
