Okay I agree that statement looks ridiculous.

y'all are still idiots if you pay a ticket issued by a camera company. it's not a legally binding citation, whether the courts have ruled on it or not.
and for those of you on your high horse: if a cop pulled you over for doing 61 in a 60, would you pay it without complaint?

Original citation was alot more than $20.

well i agree with you there, but that's not paying the ticket "because you should man up and accept responsibility for your actions" like some posters are saying. also, a lot of these tickets are in the $110+ range. I can ignore a lot of phone calls for $110.

An unpaid ticket that is charged to you is a debt to you. If you don't pay it, I would assume at some point, you will have a collection noted on your credit report. I don't think they will sue you over it... but it could be negative to your credit if it gets reported.
At this point I think your only option is to try to fight the ticket with the government that issued it... and good luck with that.

You have to sign to accept the debt for it to go on your credit report. I have ignored two of these and neither is on my credit report.
ETA: Also, i think they have to have your SSN for it to go on your credit report in the first place, and the camera companies don't have access to that (by law? not sure).

I have a yes or no question for you. Dont give me any other nonsense other than a yes or no.
Was your GF speeding at the time of the alleged infraction?

I have two for "insufficient wait time before a turn on red" in both I stop and then go. I didn't know I had to count to three seconds.
Can't fight it and I am now on the boot list.
I cover my plate every time I park on city streets.

I don't know. I was asleep, she was driving as we took turns on a long trip. We arent together anymore, and I'm not attempting to contact her over this as I have no legal burden to do so.
Also, FYI, the city that issued the citation only allows you to respond with an affidavit denying responsibility if the vehicle was sold or stolen.

yeah when the city starts enforcing it with boots you gotta be willing to go farther if you don't want to pay it. i still disagree with the ticket, but it's pretty tough to spend the time and money to fight a frivolous ticket in court. i'd probably pay in that situation. sometimes The Man wins.

I think the point is no government agency issued him a ticket. They essentially contract out these privatized monitoring companies to issue these things and try to collect on them

What should my next move be?
Step 1: Look at the amount that you owe for ticket.
Step 2: Figure out how much your time is worth to you in monetary terms (per hour is most helpful).
Step 3: Estimate how much time you've spent and will spend by corresponding with debt collections agencies, talking with lawyers, posting on message boards, etc. to avoid paying ticket.
Step 4: Calculate how much that time is worth to you based on step 2.
Step 5: If ticket fine is less than the amount calculated in step 4, pay the dang ticket and move on with your life.

You'll pay it next time you try to finance something and have a 580
