Went on an elk hunt and saw the quality of this jacket a guy had so I bought a product from buffalo jackson. I'm checking the website for delivery info and I get linked to this in my phone. One has an S and one doesn't. Prices are incredibly different. How do you determine if its a scam?

Legit link

vs

with an S

Is the one with an s alot cheaper? I'd imagine that one is the fake then.

If it's too good to believe, it probably is.

check the domain registry info.
LINK

buffalojackson.com has been around for over ten years, while buffalojacksons.com was registered last August for a one-year term, which is a huge red flag

Crazy that some folks will get bamboozled off that. I was pissed when I went to link in my phone due to the price change and then noticed the difference.

I tried to purchase some chlorine tablets from what I thought was a legit website for a low price.
It ended up being a bogus site. Chase worked with me to get me refunded- but what a pain in the arse.

I never noticed and it wouldn't recognize my order #. I was like wtf. And then I reviewed the url and noticed the subtle difference.

Yep, there are tons of these too good to be true deals out there. They pop up a Shopify store and run Google ads for a few days and then move on to a different domain name. Shopify seems to do little to shut them down as they are making a profit off of the scam themselves.

The second one's About Us was written by someone whose first language is not English. Or maybe an AI chatbot.

maybe it's one of those scams where they send you a comically small version of the item you really wanted

Besides using common sense, one thing you can do is lookup the domain name registration for each. If the info isnt behind a privacy wall you can see who domain is registered to and cross ref to the company info you know is legit.

One thing you should not do is spread the virus by sharing links to phishing websites. Sheesh

Yep the site I went to looked legit. But it should have raised red flags with me when I noticed that they were selling chlorine tablets on the same site as clothes etc.
