So, the solution is to just end it?
The solution is to just bury our heads in the sand?
Why was Bill Clinton so popular on both sides of the aisle in 1996?

Yeah some people make dumb choices with it, but let's not throw the baby out with bathwater.
It needs major reform. It's one of the most abused "programs" in the country.

If the Dems in the Senate would just allow a vote on the clean continuing resolution already passed by the house like Republicans did 13 times under Biden’s Autopen this shutdown would have never been a thing in the first place.
What number is the Senate Dems blocking of a vote on a clean continuing resolution up to now? 13 or 14??
I believe this is the first shutdown caused by the refusal to pass clean continuing resolution which is solely on the Senate Dems blocking a vote on the clean CR due to the 60 votes required for cloture to end debate which then allows a vote to take place.
Schumer is trying to appeal to the leftists in NY supporting AOC running against him in primary.
Entire shutdown including people losing welfare because an old white liberal man wants to get re-elected and die in office as a Senator.
But here is Schumer in 2013 on the threat of a shutdown

Let's feed a family of 4 three square meals a day for $100.00 per month. Don't think it can be done? We can get pretty damn close.
Let's do a weekly shopping trip with a $25 budget per week.
All numbers from Wal-Mart's website at current prices:
Protein:
Tyson 10 lb bag frozen Chicken Leg Quarters= $5.96
2x 18ct Large Eggs= $2.92 per= $5.84
Carbs:
2lb Bag of Long Grain Rice: $1.77
2x 2lb Bag of Flour: $1.32 per = $2.64
1lb Bag of Red Beans: $1.87
2lb tub Quaker Grits: $2.88
Fats:
4 sticks of Butter: $3.67
Vegetables:
3x 12oz Bag Frozen Mixed Vegetabls: $.98 per= $1.96
Total: $26.59 (.10%tax) = $29.25
x4 for Monthly Shopping = $116.99 (Damn! Slightly over budget!)
x12 for Yearly Shopping = $1,403.95
And here's a weekly menu with that:
Dinner options:
Red Beans & Rice w/mixed veggies
Smothered Chicken Rice & Gravy w/mixed veggies & homemade bread
Chicken & Dumplings
Baked Leg Quarters w/veggie & butter rice
Breakfast options:
Grits & Eggs
Biscuit & Egg
If every family member eats 1 egg for breakfast you will have 6 leftover to make bread and biscuits throughout the week.
We just proved that a family of 4 not only won't go hungry and starve (OMG!!!) but can actually eat pretty solid with just a little bit of.....EFFORT.
For my entire life I have worked my arse off and I make very conscious decisions often when grocery shopping. I try my best to live modest. So when I see a fat frick with 6 fat fricking kids in front of me loading 4 12 packs of coca-cola & cream soda, cookies, pastries, steaks, fish, frozen dinners, frozen pizzas, 5x different types of juice, and then whip out an EBT card to pay for it all it pisses me the frick off and it always has.
