What about ground turkey vs ground beef?

Aim for ~1-2 pounds per week to avoid loose skin (as practicable) and remain a healthy diet.
1.) Find your TDEE. (2000-2500 calories)
2.) Eat 500-1000 calories below your TDEE per day. That's 1-2 pounds per week.
3.) Supplement with exercise. Don't factor this into your calorie intake each day - it's already counted in the TDEE calculation.
Using this method I lost 50 pounds in 7 months starting back in January of this year.
As much as people hate to hear -it's ALL about how much you eat.

if you are a guy you should expect your penis to grow .015 inches per month because of weight loss.

Best advice so far.

So you are more concerned with the number on the scale than body composistion?
No, but my doctor is.

Yeah, I eat that also but I have smoked or baked turkey and chicken more than beef.

5'10-5'11" and about 245 or so. Yea, I'm not lean, but I'm not a fat slob either. I don't really have a big gut as I distribute my weight fairly uniformly across my body. It actually has made losing weight in the past frustrating as I don't see that immediate "targeted" weight loss.
I mostly lift high weight and low reps, with a decent volume. While I know I need to incorporate more cardio, I've typically been frustrated by the strength losses. I'm on pace to hit 350 in bench and 400 in deads in the next few months. While I know it's pretty arbitrary, these are personal goals for me.
I've been this heavy before and quickly dropped 40-50 lbs with cycling and running. However, my weight has been hard to keep below 230 after getting married a few years ago. I now have a baby to make things more difficult, but it does give me extra motivation.

You would probably drop it a lot easier through diet. Just saying.

I have to do both. Ate oatmeal for breakfast, salad at lunch, pre-workout shake, and a modest dinner.
A lot of people's body will adapt quickly if they are only eating at a deficit. I've tried it before, and it never does anything. Diet + Cardio Exercise has always been the most effective tool for me.

re: How much weight do you expect to lose per month?(Posted on 9/2/15 at 9:13 am to NatalbanyTigerFan) I lost 12 in two weeks starting out on a diet. Went from 192 to 180 by just eating, no working out. I had a bunch of shite go on then, and ended up not following it at all. I have somewhat been following it lately, and am posted up around 183 now. If I was exercising, I wouldn't expect it to move that quickly because I gain muscle really quickly. It really all depends on how fat you are though. My metabolism is pretty fast, so that helped me Eta: That wasn't water weight, and I ate 3500-4000 calories instead of 5-6000 This post was edited on 9/2 at 9:25 am
You have to be kidding. If I eat more than about 2500 calories a day I gain weight. You must be a world class athlete.

how does this work?

If you go on keto you can expect to lose a lot to start off with. If you eat a lot of grains then start keto, I'm sure you could lose 15 lbs in a month. I've lost weight pretty easy on it and I never exercise. A good meal on keto would be bacon jalapeno poppers (baked) for an app, then ribeye steak topped with mushroom cream sauce with garlic asparagus cooked in butter and baked brocolli. Dessert would be dark chocolate (90+).
Dessert is the hardest thing, but eventually the addiction to sugar will go away.

But seriously cut soft drinks, sweets, and eat 5 small meals throughout the day consisting of baked chicken, baked fish, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, and salads.
If your a guy you'll lose 15-20 pounds the first month with this and some exercise
