Let's get sef driving cars before we start talking about robot doctors.

That's amazing.
I'd be a little nervous if I were going in for heart surgery and laid down underneath that thing.

Google is doing some groundbreaking stuff in the biotech areana as well. I'm to lazy to look it all up for everyone but it's quite scary.

That's what I am seeing and what spurred this thread. Google/Facebook/Microsoft/Apple have really begun to invest in this. It's becoming a "space race" - call it the health tech race or whatever. But it's happening.

You talking Elysium???

If you haven't seen it...watch it.
It's not the best movie ..but that's not what I find interesting

Yet you talk about the medical profession as if you knew anything about what it means to be a physician. i enjoy the debate, but don't brush things off about the current profession as if it's some mom and pop, half assed and broken system. There are ethics involved with AI and there are ethics and factors involved in practicing medicine that you are ignoring.

Google is also waist deep in genetic engineering as well. I saw an interview with their CEO. Most terrifying interview I've ever seen. People really need to pay close attention to our elected officials and hope to god there is one or two left willing to blow all this up.
All this crap about gun control???? That's just About the last item. Everything else is in place.

I know the basics. Information in. Information out. Actions taken based on that information. Outcomes are measured. Information adjusted and monitored. Further action is taken. Etc.
You talk like you understand computers and tech when it is clear you are really short selling the possibilities here.

Genetic engineering will be the new frontier in countries other than America.
And that's why I brought up Europe in the OP. This revolution is going to start somewhere far away from the American lawyer.

I'm not. Technology in medicine has helped make healthcare what it is today. Believe me, I'm still blown away when I see a 3D CT scan or a cochlear implant. It's science fiction become a reality.

Look...I understand what you're saying. The human being in me really wNts to agree with yiu. But we're not talking about your average human beings. let's take a road down "old" money. The same people that killed millions of Indians and robbed them blind is the same people blowing up the world trade centers...kicking off Vietnam etc etc. Someone mentioned zuccedburg...he or someone like a bill gates can't even sniff this fraternal club of megalomaniac sickos. They can't get in...nobody can. Whatever bullshite propaganda was used back then and forever just differs from generation to generation to further the same agenda.

We're just and Always just a means to an end. And time is about up.

Google has the inside track to becoming the most powerful entity of the 21st century (note: I very much intended to say entity, as in encompassing all institutions, not just firms/businesses/corporations). Dont discount the power we are giving them when we flood their ever expanding datasets with info
Edit: I think I misunderstood your first reply. Post is now just a heads up for anyone who discounts the power data holds in forging our future

something similar to a wifi signal may be filtering through your house constantly monitoring all these things
Can you give me some links to this super powerful wifi that is spying on me currently?

Automation is coming for jobs that are simple input in and input out. Medicine is not like that. ASPECTS of medicine are, but as a whole there's a lot more that goes into simply MAKING a diagnosis, much less treating it.
In terms of internist type jobs, who's going to input the information? The patient? Patients can't even remember what pills to take. Who's going to listen to the history and pull out the salient information? Doctors have a hard time even interpreting what patient's say.
What about surgery? Robotics will likely still be just a tool surgeons use in the distant future. Now one legitimate argument is that fewer diseases will require surgery.
You could argue diagnostics like radiology and pathology could be done by a robot, but even then it will most likely just become doctors inputing and interpreting data with the assistance of a robot.
For some reason, there are a lot of people out there who seem to be rooting for doctors to fail. I don't know why though. Even in the unlikely event that doctors become obsolete you will have the best and brightest now competing for YOUR non-automated job.
